The River’s Outreach Program provides Teaching Artists for schools, hospitals and community-based organizations on a regular basis during the school year. Sites receive classes in one discipline of the arts; either visual art, dance, drama, or music. 

Off-Site Programs in Schools, Hospitals and Community Organizations:

·         Schools

o        Beyond the Stage: provides customized musical theatre classes to more than 30 Title One schools in the Houston, Pearland, CyFair, Fort Bend and Aldine School Districts

o        KIPP Shine Academy: instruction for economically disadvantaged students and their teachers  

o        Private Schools that serve special needs: Arbor School; Center for Hearing and Speech; Harris School; Monarch School, Our Network  School; Rise School; Tuttle School @ Briarwood

o        Public Schools’ Life Skills Classes (special needs): Beverly Hills Intermediate School; Dulles High School; Memorial Elementary School; Rick Schneider Middle School; Sam Rayburn High School; Waltrip High School

o        Field Trips to the Hobby Center for nearly 2,000 students a year:

§         Backstage tour and musical theatre class

o        Teach the Teacher In-Services: curriculum in accordance with TEKS objectives

·         Hospitals

 MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Center; Shriner’s Children’s Hospital; Texas Children’s Hospital; HealthBridge Children’s Hospital

·         Community Organizations

o        YMCA: after-school, day care, summer camp and special needs

o        MHMRA: special needs

o        Down Syndrome Association of Houston: Down syndrome

o        Houston Area Women’s Center: family abuse; homelessness

o        Wesley Community Center: economically disadvantaged
